Her friend hears about some shady dude (different than the three shady dudes who are now in prison) who is getting women out of town, so that’s probably fine, right? Yeah sure, let’s trust this shady dude! Nothing bad could possibly happen… *cue eyes rolling into the back of my head* Then, next scene, they of course get sold off to another random shady dude, where they have to go into a white, windowless van. Then we find out that Tatiana is down on her luck, her whole family dies in an explosion, and she is trying to “get out of dodge”. The whole first half of the book is getting to know these characters, but also not really some how? You find out that all three of these guys are super shady and they get arrested. You are first introduced to a few random characters who become integral to the plot: Mangle, Decker, Tazeem, and Tatiana. So… getting to the plot! The reason this book was on the “disturbing” list is because its (kinda of) about women trafficking. And yes, it definitely sounded like an interesting story… but man did it disappoint! Oh man… this book… I couldn’t wait to write about this book because it was so… just… weird! Ha The reason I even read this book in the first place was because, when I was more active on FB, I was in a reading group, and this was the January pick for “disturbing books”.
